The rumours are true… I’m a Freak

And that’s exactly why I read tarot.

I’m Katrina.

I’ve been called weird for as long as I can remember.

Growing up in a regional town, I didn’t fit in. I was the kid asking confronting questions, challenging the status quo, thinking too deeply about things and seeing the world differently from the people around me. I was labelled “intense”, “confronting”, “too much”. My mind seemed to work in a fundamentally different way than my peers’. Over time, I realised that being a “freak” wasn’t something I needed to grow out of. The things that made me weird were also the things that allowed me to understand people and the world around me on a very deep level.

My connection to tarot comes from that same place. I’ve always been drawn to what lies beneath the surface - the patterns we repeat, the stories we tell ourselves and the hidden wisdom we already carry within us. I use tarot as a tool for guidance and self-understanding. Tarot provides a space to explore what's unfolding in your life, what options are available to you and where your current path is leading you. The insights and revelations that tarot brings up can be used to redirect you from self-destructive paths and re-centre you onto a path of alignment.

I have been tarot’s student for several years, and have been taught by the cards how to walk the way of tarot. With the wisdom of tarot as my teacher, I have learned about the spiritual cycles we all continuously experience as humans. Humans tend to speak in words - but tarot speaks a symbolic, archetypal, frequency-based language. My mind works in a complementary abstract way. Crucially, I walk the way of tarot in my own life. Bringing the spiritual concepts of tarot into physical actions is a key focus in my sessions. Thinking, talking, telling you your future - these things can ultimately do very little in helping you grow or complete your current cycle. It is movement that creates change - actively applying new concepts in your real life.

To me, tarot isn’t about fortune-telling. The cards can identify where your current mindset, plans or behaviours are leading you; however, should you choose to change paths, your tarot spread will change with you. You always have agency. Furthermore, life moves in cycles; things change and evolve, and you are not fixed in one place. Tarot shows you where you are within that movement, so that you can move forward with greater awareness and confidence, rather than feeling lost inside it. That's the kind of reading I offer - practical insight that helps you understand yourself more deeply and navigate life with greater clarity.

Ultimately, I believe that tarot’s greatest value lies in its function as a bridge between our conscious awareness and the soup of unconscious material within us. Hence, I see myself as a translator between realms, and I seek to help people find their way back to themselves. After all, it is you who picks the cards - something within you already knows.

Born weird. Stayed weird.

What draws me to tarot is its sharp honesty, unusual sense of humour and unwavering hope. Tarot has an inherent wisdom, always nudging you towards alignment with your whole, true self. It can be confronting at times, but it is always in service of your growth.

If you’re looking for deep insight that may challenge you, but can create real change when applied in your life, I invite you to book a session at The Freak to explore your path through the wisdom of tarot.

Sessions are held at 18 Flaxman Street, Warrnambool, and are by appointment only.
